These illustrations where created for Nokia and can be found lounging about in the reviewer’s guide for the Lumia 710. I was tasked with conceptualizing headlines in the brochure, while also providing spot illustrations throughout to show how generally awesome their new phone is.

This illustrated map, for Takeda, was sent out as their holiday eCard. The map highlights all of the cities Takeda has offices or research facilities in and also spreads a bit of holiday cheer to boot.

These illustrations, completed for Deliver Magazine’s M.A.I.L Awards call for entires poster help you to remember to enter your work in the M.A.I.L. Awards contest by featuring a simple cutout, illustrated around the theme of remembering to enter. Details on each concept below.

Robots to help you get your entries together on time / A string to tie around your finger

Stickers to place on your best work / Mad lib inspired script to convince your boss to pay the entry fee (script was added around the fill-in-the-blanks)

A door hanger, reminding you what a dunce you’ll feel like if you forget the deadline / The Remember-matic 8000 stopwatch, letting you know how much time you have left to enter

A few of my favorite sketches that didn’t make the cut: An “Awesome-meter” designed to detect what great work you should enter / A cutout-standup palm tree to remind you to send you entries of to Miami, where the work is being judged / Rock star glasses, to see what life would feel like after winning a M.A.I.L. award.

The joys of living green are undeniable.

When working on large illustrations like these, I like to imagine that each element could be used as a spot illustration or as an icon.

I was recently asked to illustrate the cover and an interior faux game board for this Sunday’s Washington Post Book World magazine. It was a delight working with everyone at the Washington Post and you can see some process sketches below.

I’ll often doodle rough thumbnails like these right after I get off the phone with the art director, while everything is still fresh. I was looking to create an option with hand done type, and a cleaner/simpler version that type could easily be added to.
